1) Your Passport is technically required in Mexico. "Fast Pass" re-entry cards like Sentri don't mean anything to Mexico, they are just to get you back into the U.S. quickly. 2) A little bit of cash ($100 in small bills) for food or whatever you want to buy, if anything. 3) Any medications you may need. 4) Proper attire, i.e. stuff like decent shoes and sun protection.
U.S. citizens are required to show a U.S. passport, U.S. passport card, Trusted Traveler Program card (NEXUS, SENTRI, Global Entry or FAST) or an Enhanced Driver's License. Resident aliens must possess a green card.
Mexico only recognizes your U.S. Passport. None of the "Fast Pass" type of cards for quick re-entry into the U.S. mean anything to Mexico. So, bring your UN-expired U.S. Passport to walk in, and to drive in also bring your Driver's license, Vehicle Registration, & Proof of Mexican insurance.

If you somehow get separated from the tour in the middle of the tour at a property then you'll need to get an Uber or Taxi to the next property or back to the U.S. pedestrian crossing, which ever you choose.
